The High Line in the Fall

One can't visit New York without a walk on the High Line.
We climbed on at Gansevoort (the south end of the park) and passed under the infamous Standard High Line Hotel.
The trees and shrubs at the south end have matured beautifully. It's a true tunnel of foliage
and Fall colours brighten the paths.
10th Ave from the High Line.
Frank Gehry's wonderful IAC Headquarters (on the left) at the 18th Street stairs.
 Let's stroll north.
We love the old tracks left amongst the undergrowth.
and the views of the Hudson.
Lots of new buildings surround the High Line now.
as well as some nice old warehouses.
Around West 30th St a new, giant structure is rising above the railroad lands, the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project,
with lots of action at its base.
Some of the old tracks have been left on the northern stretch of the Highline.
The park pathway becomes paved in asphalt as it merges West 34th St.
We walked back along the park as it edges 12th Avenue, the Joe DiMaggio Highway and the Hudson River.
The remaining railway yards still store subway trains.
Lets head back south to the Chelsea gallery neighbourhood.
John liked the water fountain, Panorama, 2015, by Ryan Gander.
Before we descend at West 18th Street to visit the Chelsea galleries, we noticed this Friend of the High Line in full "living dead" costume who was greeting High Line visitors. New Yorkers love Hallowe'en.
